no smokingSPRINGFIELD – Senator Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) applauded the governor’s decision to sign a law to limit smoking on college campuses yesterday.  

The new law prohibits smoking on state university and community college campuses in Illinois.

Each campus will have a task force to coordinate the implementation of the Smoke-Free Campus Act.

SenatorInYourCornerBlueGURNEE - Senator Melinda Bush (D-Grayslake) will be holding her second of four Senator in Your Corner meetings next Wednesday, August 13, in Gurnee.  The meeting will be held at the Gurnee Village Hall (325 O’Plaine Road, Gurnee, IL) from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

“After a year and a half as your Senator, I believe more than ever that Illinois’ situation would improve if all elected officials made direct conversation with area residents a high priority,” Bush said.  

Senator Bush will spend the majority of the time answering questions and requesting feedback from attendees, but she will also talk about this year’s legislative activity and her long-term economic development strategy.

2014JobFairState Senator Melinda Bush is announcing an upcoming hiring event that will work to instantly match prospective job seekers with on-site employers.

The event will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on the lower level basketball court at the Zion Park District Leisure Center (2400 Dowie Memorial Drive). The Illinois Department of Employment Security and the Jobs Center of Lake County will be partnering with Senator Bush for this free event.

Job-seekers who register in advance will have the opportunity to have their skills matched with hundreds of prospective employers. Once registered, Illinois Department of Employment Security professionals will be available on-site to increase job-seekers' potential opportunities.
